Shirley M. KnowlesShirley M. Knowles, 90, of Elgin, IL. Passed away on August16, 2024. She was the daughter of John and Ruth Bognar.Shirley's employment included the Elgin National Watch Factory and DuKane. She and her husband owned Groh Awning for several years.She had been married to John W. Knowles for 54 years. They had three children: Michael, Gerald (Carol Siete), and John R. (Linda), as well as two grandchildren.She is survived by her children and grandchildren, brother Richard Bognar and sister Linda (James) Crinigan.Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers Marvin and Larry Bognar.There will be no visitation, and the burial will remain private.
