Douglas Andrew Brown Born: October 25, 1946 in Oak Park, IL Died: July 21, 2024 in St. Charles, IL Douglas Andrew Brown, age 77, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024, at Delnor Hospital in St. Charles, Illinois, with his family at his bedside. Doug was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on October 25, 1946, to John W. and Louise (Swan) Brown, and grew up in Elgin. In 1968, he graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in Biology. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, Doug attended graduate school at Northern Illinois University, where he received an M.S in Biology. Doug's compassionate nature led him in his fifties to obtain an M.S.W. from Aurora University, and to a career as a Social Worker at Elgin Mental Health Center. Doug was a member of St. Charles Episcopal Church, where he served as a Home Eucharistic Minister and was active in other church ministries such as Hesed House and Free Spaghetti Dinner.
