Robert L. Gorecki Sr. Born: August 21, 1928 Died: August 14, 2024 Bob Gorecki was born, raised, and lived his entire life in St. Charles, Illinois. His parents, Edward Gorecki and Josephine Gorecki (nee Kendra) settled in the town in the early 1900s, and owned the St. Charles Nickel Works, a metal polishing and plating company on the Fox River. He attended Marmion Military Academy in Aurora, Illinois, graduating number one in his class and then attended the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana to earn his bachelor's degree. Bob enlisted in the Army after graduating from the University of Illinois in 1950 and was called to active duty during the Korean War in 1951, where he served as company commander of an Army headquarters in Seoul. After he returned from Korea, Bob Gorecki remained active in the Army Reserves for many years. Bob then attended the John Marshall Law School. In 1956, just out of law school, Bob joined the law firm of Redmon and Shearer in St. Charles as an associat
